    My Personal Brand and Values

    Above is a photo of Quail Hollow Club. I want to work in golf and working golf tournaments like this have helped me create my brand.

    At the beginning of my college career, I was given the opportunity to have a fresh start at life as an adult with my past being in my past. I am a new person at this University just like every other freshman who started that same day I did. I began to start thinking about who I am and what I stand for and who I want to be. Over my college career, I was able to build my personal brand and truly discover what my true values are. I believe that through all my experiences at the Univeristy of South Carolina I have created a person who is a hard worker, challenge acceptor, and connection maker. I believe that my purpose is to work in a managerial role of a sports organization some day and be true leader for the organization I reside with. My values are competition, creativity, and key decision making. I believe I bring to the able a person who can work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and can execute to get the job done.

    Almost every one of my professors spoke about creating a brand for myself. At first, I thought it wasn't anything special. As I moved through my college career I realized how important it is. In my Professional Communications course, my professor would push us to find out who we were and we had many assignments on brands of companies and slowly worked towards finding our personal brands. Also, my professor for my Sales in Sport Management course, my professor talked about brand alignment and congruence. This really opened my eyes to the difference between being full of yourself like thinking your better then others and being confident and using others to help boost that confidence. There are leaders and then there are dictators. I believe I have moved to a point in my career where I can say I am a leader and not a follower.

    In my work experiences, I have found that branding is huge when it comes to things such as partners and sponsors. For instance, the Masters tournament only has 4 partners and they chose them wisely. In my internship with the Norwich Sea Unicorns, I learned that I found a personal brand in being a marketer. I am exceptional at gaining more traction for an organbziation to get them to come and enjoy our games while also financially supporting the organization. I also realized I am exceptional gaining partners and sponsors for an organization. I believe I am an excpetional coordinator and communicator from this experience. Also, when I worked as a Recreation Intern, running events and games put me on the spot to communicate pricing and rules for these to the particpants. I never receieved any complaints because of how well I communicated to the participants. I would constantly make sure they were all set and understood what was going on as the events were in progress.

    Overall, my personal brand is that I am an authentic, confident hjardworker who never backs down from a challenge and perserveres when times are rough. I can communicate with everybody and coordianate where multiple people need to be at once. I can multitask at a harmonic level to snure everything is being done correctly and accordingly.

    Artifact 1 

    To my left, is a picture of my badge from The CSRI conference that took place at the Alumni Center at the University of South Carolina. This could fall under the professional relationships portion of my e-portfolio. However, I believe this fits stronger for my personal brand. Attendance to this was a requirement for my Collegiate Atheltics course taught by Professor Southall. I looked at this as an opportunity to hear the different voices of the sports world and here about there different expereinces and personal brands. Listening to each of the people who either gave a presentation about their company or their career this made me think about my personal brand and what to look for if I want to be successful in the sports world. What many of them stressed is that you have to fall in love with what you do or you will be miserable for the rest of your life. They also stressed how much trial and error they had to go through to find their true calling. This conference helped me build my personal brand and helped me understand what to expect in my future.

    Artifact 2

    Pictured to my left is me holding the 2023 championship trophy for the Norwich Sea Unicorns. It was a long shot for this team to win over the 8 othr teams in the FCBL however, the pulled through in the playoffs and managed to win the championship. This beyond-the-classroom experience and internship was the first huge accomplishment that helped me build my personal brand. As I said before. this internship helped me realize that my purpose was to work in marketing due to my exceptional personal and communication skills. This internship made me learn that I am able to execute and finish the job just like the Norwich Sea Unicorns did in the 2023 FCBL season.
